    Hi Team Titleist,

Nervous High handicapper here seeking advise, Im booked onto a vokey fitting at stevenage with Nick Gear.

Currently i game a really old 64 wedge, im not that good with wedges as i dont have any other option then my 64 hence wanting to get fitted.

Im also nervous as to be wasting the guys time, im new to the game and still not 100% confident but i play and love the sport, ive had driver fittings and hybrid fittings, however i think as its not with my coach and its with a proper rep my nerves seem higher then usual as i dont wanna let the guy down, im so looking forward to getting wedges but dont want to be a laughing stock if that makes sence, anyone felt like this before or am i being silly, hopefully someone can calm my nerves.

Firstly, I've played golf for nearly 30 years, have had fittings for all parts of the game and get a little nervous before a fitting myself. Its totally normal so don't beat yourself up over it.

The fitter, Nick, will put you at ease straight from the off with some general golf chat, chat about your game, what you want out of the fitting etc. One thing to remember is that these guys know that we aren't pro's and every swing isn't going to be perfect, also they will have seen it all before, so I would try not to worry, enjoy the fitting and get yourself some nice new wedges!!

Nick is a great fitter, knows his stuff and fitted me a couple of times.

Just swing your swing and let Nick work his magic

I remember getting a wedge fitting years ago at St Ives and played off about 7 at the time, shanked the first 6, couldn't believe it.

The fitter was great, said he sees it a lot and told me not to worry. You'll be fine, they've seen it all before.

The fitters at St Ives are always very helpful and supportive, you should not worry. I had a fitting for a couple of hours and towards the end I just could not get the ball off the ground. The fitter was really helpful and we ended up laughing about it.
  6. I was fitted for SM 10s last year.
Like you I was a little nervous beforehand but Andrew (at St Ives) put me at ease and I had a really fab time.
We just took 6 wedges out to the short game area and I hit them to see which suited me the best.
Longer wedge shots were done in the bay with Trackman and then we fine tuned with grips and shaft options.
They are simply trying to see which wedge is best for your game and if your swing absolutely deserts you on the day they will understand and not put you under any pressure to buy something that does not work for you.
I know it’s easy to say but once the nerves have been laid down you will be sure to have a great time.
I have put my name down for the Tour experience at Woburn and I am sure that if, by chance, I was selected in the draw I would be as nervous as anything the day before the event
