Shinnecock Hills is one of golf’s most historic and demanding tests. From the firm conditions to the rolling greens, even the world’s best players have been challenged as they take on Shinnecock this weekend. Watch as Peter Finch puts his game to the test:

So, here's the question: if you had the opportunity to tee it up at Shinnecock Hills, do you think you would have what it takes to break par?

I first played the course a couple of weeks before the 1986 Open. And played it infrequently until the late 1990s. I would not want to play it all the time. The winds make the course extremely difficult and the rough is truly rough.

probably not if I’m playing it on a cold, snowy February day, lol.
  5. Modest and hopeful prediction: +4 per side, 78 total limit 3-putts to one per side.

Loved playing the course several times throughout the years. As a scratch player since age 17 I never sniffed par. It’s a fabulous course. Amazing condition and layout. We played national one time and par on a windy day was a distant dream. Scores were 78-88 over 20 years. Now at age 73 I fear breaking 90 would be a distant dream ! But to be on that course on a beautiful day with members and other guest is golf shivas would have stated “at its best”! Scratch ( now more itch then game”!)

I'm a 12 handicap, so I have no chance of breaking par! Given these conditions (especially the wind), I'd be happy to break 100

I don't think I could break 100 from the forward tees

At 77 years old I would just appreciate the opportunity to play such a great course!!
  10. I play in New Mexico and we have serious wind 25-30mph in the spring and the up and down isn’t a problem. I think the greens would be the major challenge. But I’m always up for a challenge.

Breaking Par woudl be a tough ask considering how few of the best in the world were able to accomplish that feat. If everything went right, I would set the bar at breaking 80.
