  1. Hey guys, I tested out the Tsi3 driver at a Titleist Thursday and I was getting some pretty good numbers, however I was using range balls.

I was getting 150 ball / 101 club speed, spinning at 2300 with an 8 degree head and a 65gram Graphite design IZ shaft. Very nice ball flight. I absolutely loved it.

My question is, what will happen to the spin and distance with a premium golf ball? For reference, I was getting about 280 total distance with the range ball.

What was the range ball were you using? When I go for a fitting, the Titleist fitter normally uses Provs on the range at Titleist Thursdays......

From my understanding range balls typically spin more and fly high. But I suppose it depends on the type of range ball you were hitting.
  4. That’s what I was thinking. Suppose that’s true, would 2000 spin be too low? The ball flight was already nice and low from the IZ shaft and 9 degree head. If the flight drops even more it could be an issue.

2000 isn’t bad. If it dropped below that I’d be concerned. I like to see my spin with driver to be between 2300 to 2900.

Range balls are not created equal. A nearby public range open 364 days a year uses balls labeled "range". I wouldn't try to transfer the data from those beaters to a urethane model like a Pro-V. My local fitter tells me the Trackman they use does some translation from the Tour-S practice balls to how a professional grade urethane model would perform. To note they are moving to carrying all/more Titleist lines to use for ball and club fittings for more reliable results with the exact ball.
