Ball quality issues

  1. Hello fellow ball enthusiasts. Longtime ProV1 user here. I loved the left dash for about 3 years. Then a couple years ago switched to the regular X to have more spin and control on and around the green. I have also played the newest ProV1 a decent amount. I love all of them for various reasons. One thing I’ve always appreciated about Titleist balls is their quality from ball to ball, sleeve to sleeve, season after season. Anyone else having ball issues recently? The photos I’ve attached are both fresh out of a new sleeve of balls. The one with the chunk out of it. I pulled it out of a sleeve. Hit a chip a few yards. Picked it up and noticed the chunk out of it. It’s the newest model of ProV1. The other ball is the last gen ProV1x new out of a new sleeve. Never hit. Has a visible indent in it. I’m not sure who to talk to at Titleist. But this is becoming frustrating . Thanks for your help

  2. I had this once this year, where a brand new sleeve had a couple balls with some “cover boogers” I have only seen that condition on from that one box, no other V1’s this year or other Titleist balls I have used have had visible defects.

I’m not trying to say your post is not accurate but seems strange you would add your red star and the ball would have dirt marks if coming stray out of the box. I do know that the soft cover material will cut easily with a wedge, I’ve done that several times when thinning a bunker shot. I also have done the Ball Plant tour and I know how many inspections occur throughout the process.
  4. Good observation. I always mark my balls before taking them on the course. Easier to identify if others are playing the same ball. Then I leave the in the sleeve until use. In both cases I took them out of the sleeve to use on the course.
I have played many many boxes of ProV1 or X over the past 5 years or so and never had this issue before.
Having 2 in back to back rounds is new to me and thus the reason I posted.
And I agree. I have thinned or in other ways took chunks out of new balls. But in this case I hit a maybe 10 yard pitch shot with a 54 Vokey. I didn’t thin it or hit it bad and a chunk was missing out of the ball when I got to it.
    No way that should happen.

Nothing to do with the imperfections, but I always put my mark on the entire new dozen (green dot to the right of the #) while watching TV and then put them back in the sleeves until it's time to put them in my bag.

Even though it happened back to back, it's most likely an isolated case. Maybe the guy doing QC that day had a rough night.

Did you try taking it back with your receipt to the Titleist account where you purchased the balls? You might check out their warranty against defects.
